What is WHOIS Privacy ?

Did you know that when you register a domain name your personal details e.g. name, address, email address and phone number are then made publicly available on the internet? These personal details are available for anyone to see on the WHOIS database.

The bad news is that sometimes spammers, telemarketers, unwanted 3rd parties & scammers mine this database to find information on you, such as your email address. The good news is Easyspace has a way to protect your personal information when registering your domain name. Our WHOIS Privacy service enables you to protect your personal details against spam, scams, fraudulent domain transfers and identity theft for just £0.42 pence per month!

Advantages of using WHOIS Privacy:

  • Guard your privacy
  • Reduce spam, junk mail and telemarketing sales calls
  • Prevents from identity theft
  • Add to new or existing domain
  • Stay fully contactable and more!

Who can use WHOIS Privacy?

WHOIS Privacy is not available for every single type of domain name extension. It is most commonly used for .com’s and .net’s. Below are the main domain extensions that WHOIS Privacy is available for:

In addition to the above extensions, many of the new domains being released can also be used with WHOIS Privacy. To view a list of domain extensions eligible to use WHOIS Privacy visit our WHOIS Privacy Service page or phone 0370 755 5088.

How do you get WHOIS Privacy?

If your domain extension is eligible then you can add WHOIS Privacy during the Check-out stage when you register a new domain name.

However, if you have already registered your domain, then you can purchase WHOIS Privacy for your existing domain names via your Easyspace control panel. Simply login and search for your existing domain and add WHOIS Privacy at Domain Management section.

What about .uk and .eu domains?

As mentioned above, the Easyspace WHOIS Privacy service is only available for selected domains such as extensions as .com, .net, .org, .info, etc. However, we also offer a similar protection service for .uk domain names.

The “WHOIS opt-out” service for .uk and .eu domain extensions is only available to non-trading individuals, allowing you to retain your domain name without having to expose your personal information to the public.

So if you wanted to protect your personal details under your .uk and .eu domains, then just raise a ticket via your control panel.
