The winner of the £3,500 Web Design Competition

Congratulations to Mr Andrew Sharkey, the winner of our recent £3,500 web design contest “Ugly Website Competition”.

With thousands of entries received, the worst websites were judged by the Easyspace Web Design Team who had a tough task narrowing the list down to three finalists. Having gone through all submissions, the winner was picked and the winning website is currently undergoing a fantastic rejuvenation worth £3,500!

We have now had our initial discussion with the Ugly Website competition winner, Andrew Sharkey, of the Scottish Scout Association. Andrew runs www.jamborette.org.uk, a website for events that run every 2 years in Blair Atholl, where scouts from around the globe meet to take part in group activities.

The Easyspace Web Design Team went through the initial ideas for the new website and discussed various options on its functionality. They sent out the content pack, which Andrew shall now complete, to provide information for the website. Andrew will also supply guidelines for the Scouts’ websites, in order that Easyspace know what regulations must be observed when creating a new web presence for the group.

Andrew Sharkey commented: “I’m delighted to be selected as the winner of the 2011 Ugly Website competition run by Easyspace. Our group has been managing the jamborette.org.uk website in its spare time since it was first created and as it has grown in size over the years. However, it has become more and more in need of a revamp. With limited resource and capability it has not been something that we have been able to do, so we are really looking forward to seeing a fresh look and feel and are confident that the Easyspace team will provide a dynamic, contemporary design that will engage our visitors and improve the overall user experience.”

The next stage in the Easyspace design process shall be to review the guidelines for the Scouts’ websites to ensure our new design falls within those guidelines and to produce our initial design concepts based on Andrew’s requirements.
