Web hosting, also known as website hosting or shared hosting, is one of the most popular ways through which businesses can build an online presence.

Shared web hosting is effectively a server (computer) split into many different private customer areas, with each area having its own space for files (web space) and ability to transmit these files (bandwidth). These areas are then accessible through a domain name (owned by the customer).

For example, when you type in “www.domainname.com”, the website that appears is running on a web hosting platform.

Once you have purchased a web hosting package from Easyspace, the next step is to create a website for it. There are various ways you can do this e.g. installing WordPress or designing a website for it yourself.

If you or your web designer create your own website then you will need to know how to upload the web files to your web hosting account. With this in mind, below we have create a step-by-step guide on how you can do this:


Step 1 – Log into your Control Panel

You can access your Easyspace control panel by visiting http://controlpanel.easyspace.com.


Your username and password were sent to you in your welcome documentation. If you do not know your credentials please click the “forgotten password” link.

Step 2 – Select your domain name

Select “Web Hosting Management” from the left hand navigation or the main screen.


Select your new domain from the drop down and click the “green arrow”



Step 3 –Upload your Website using our FTP Client

NOTE – If you want to use an external client skip to Step 4

Expand the “FTP Client” menu and click”Connect”


The Your Support Services FTP Client will open in a new window, connecting you to your web space, the navigation pane on the left hand side is the folder structure on your PC/Laptop and the right hand navigation pane is the web space.

Locate your site files on your PC, Highlight them and click the icon to move them to your web space


• The main page of your website should be named index (ensuring it’s all in lower case)

• The files should be uploaded to the folder opened in the Client.

If you access your website on the internet it will display.

Step 4 – Upload your content using an external FTP Client

You can access your FTP connection details by expanding the FTP Details section of Webhosting Management within the control panel
