About the .ME Registry:
.ME Registry (the d.b.a of doMEn, d.o.o.) was chosen by the government of Montenegro to operate the new .ME domain name extension. The domain extension will be available to the general public worldwide in mid-July. .ME Registry partners include ME-net, GoDaddy.com and Afilias Limited. Afilias Limited is headquartered in Ireland and is a leading registry services provider, supporting more than 13 million domains worldwide.
What is Open Registration?
In Open Registration, registrations are made on a first-come, first-serve basis. Anyone is eligible to register names in this period.

Internationalized Domain Names (IDNs)
.ME Registry plans to offer Internationalized Domain Name (IDN) registrations in the future, at a time to be announced. Until then, all registrations with hyphens in the third and fourth positions will be prohibited.
Registration Terms
In Land Rush and Open Registration, the minimum initial term is two (2) years, and the maximum is ten (10) years.
Domain Renewal
Domain name registrations may be renewed prior to their expiration for a period of years up to ten years (in one-year increments), provided that the expiration date of a domain-name registration can never be more than ten years in the future. A renewal that would set the expiration date further than ten years in the future will be rejected by the system.
Leap Year calculations: Registrations made on February 29 for 1-3, 5-7, or 9-10 years will expire on Feb. 28th of their respective years. Registrations made on Feb. 29 for 4 or 8 years will expire on February 29.
Authorization Codes
Every .ME domain name has an AUTH-INFO code. The AUTH-INFO code is a 6- to 16-character code assigned by the registrar at the time the name was created.
Its purpose is to aid identification of the domain owner so proper authority can be established. It is the "password" to the domain name. You must use the domain’s authorization code in order to initiate a registrar-to-registrar transfer.
What is Redemption period?
After deleting/expiring of a domain of this type, the domain will enter into a redemption period of 30 days. After this the domain will enter into a pending delete state for 5 days, after which it will become available for registration. During the redemption period, the domain can be restored by us.
Redemption fee
The costs for this action are £99.00
Transfer policy
The transfer costs include a renewal of the domain. The registration period will charged, 1 year renewal will be added to the original expiry date. Transfers may not occur during the Add Grace Period or at any other time within the first 60 days after the initialregistration.
Registrar-to-Registrar Transfers
The transfer request is issued by the gaining registrar, after which the system will notify the current registrar of the request to transfer the domain. A domain that is transferred will have its expiration date automatically extendedby one year.
- The registrant must obtain the applicable <AUTH-INFO> code from the Sponsoring (Losing) registrar.
- The registrant must provide this AUTH-INFO code to the new (Gaining)
- Upon receipt of a valid transfer request, the Registry automatically asks the Sponsoring (Losing) registrar to approve the request within five (5) days.
For stability and grace period reasons, the registry system prohibits registrar-to-registrar transfers during the first sixty (60) days after the initial registration of a domain name, and for sixty (60) days after a completed registrar-to-registrar transfer.
